About — A where-first firm

We think like geographers.

Siege Analytics is a strategic consultancy whose expertise usually shows up as technology. We started in the highest-stakes corner of data work — political campaigns and international humanitarian projects — and built a method around a single conviction: where people live is the biggest clue to who they are and how they’ll act.

Ten-plus years and five continents later, that method holds up just as well for a company choosing store locations or a nonprofit mapping its members as it does for a campaign finding its voters. We are a 100% minority-owned firm based in Austin, Texas — and we treat technology as the practice of enablement: making things visible and doable that weren’t before.

The founder

Dheeraj Chand, Founding Partner

Dheeraj Chand

Founding Partner

Born in Queens, raised across Asia, and a former schoolteacher — the son of schoolteachers. He has worked for polling firms, labour unions, and software makers, built a humanitarian crisis simulator, advised data.world, and has been in every redistricting cycle since the early 2000s.

Off the clock: Ving Tsun Kung Fu, guitar, and the small co-pilot in the photo. Family first — always.

The team

Erik Swedberg, Head of Engineering

Erik Swedberg

Head of Engineering

Building web applications since the mid-90s — with stops at frog design and Apple along the way. A full-stack engineer equally at home in PostgreSQL, Python, and Node or modern HTML/CSS/JavaScript, he pairs an electrical-engineering degree from UT Austin — and a stint in NASA Mission Control for the Space Shuttle — with a designer’s eye for intuitive, performant software.

Angela Gloyna, Full-Stack Engineer

Angela Gloyna

Full-Stack Engineer

Houston-raised, Austin-based, with a Chemistry degree and a Computer Science minor from Hendrix College. She came up through the natural sciences and data analytics before turning to full-stack development — primarily Node.js and React — and is always chasing the next technology to learn.

John Holden, Analysis and Modelling

John Holden

Analysis & Modelling — Emeritus

Veteran of both Obama presidential campaigns and campaigns in Australia. He has built walkability models, optimised early voting by drive time, and stood up a volunteer-management database from scratch. An open-source GIS advocate, he holds a geography degree from Arizona and a J.D. from William & Mary — and was on the winning team in the Virginia Citizen Redistricting competition.

In their words

“When it comes to speculative geography and boundary creation, Siege Analytics is in a league of their own.”

Jon Reznick — Competitive Advantage Research

“They turn a simple export of voter data into accurate, easy-to-use shapefiles. Fast, affordable, and transformative.”

Connie Gao — Progressive Turnout Project

“I come to them with impossible problems, and they find a solution — quickly, and always under budget.”

Jamaa Bickley-King — General Consultant

“Dheeraj makes the impossible possible. I come to him with a dream and he makes it into a plan.”

Varun — AAPI Victory Fund

“Dheeraj came into my startup as a consultant and quickly sorted out our development hell into product lines and got our personnel decisions handled. From there, he helped me develop Intelligence, our flagship AI offering. And this happened in less than three months.”

Asher Haig — CEO, Strong.Ai

“Professional, dependable, and knowledgeable. Well-planned, efficiently executed, and successful.”

Jason Rosenbaum — Action Network

Partnerships & collaborators

We keep our circle small and expert. On polling we partner with Steve Leopoldo at Margin of Era; on campaign finance we work with a firm that parses FEC data in real time; and we build redistricting software alongside Political Data, Inc.
